On Saturday, we slept in a bit and then headed over to the Deutsche museum. I had been hearing so much about this
museum, about how it was like the German version of the Smithsonian, how it took days to go through all of the
exhibits, and very importantly, how they had a crash test car from BMW that was an E12 5 series (I have a 1981
528i E12 5 series). I wanted to take alot of pictures of the crash test car and was really looking forward to all
of their exhibits. But, sorry to be a complainer, but I wasn't impressed at all by the museum. Its old. It was
under alot of construction. And most importantly, the automotive exhibit was partially under construction for
6 months! And the E12 crash test car was part of this so I couldn't see it! After trudging through the exhibits
scowling, we got through almost the whole museum in a matter of 2 hours. This was due largely to the fact that
some exhibits had no English descriptions at all (many did however, so it wasn't that bad). And also I noticed
that many of the exhibits that were interactive, i.e. they had buttons you would push and stuff would move or do
things, didn't work! I hate that. So we were finished at the museum at around 1PM. We took the train down to
Marienplatz (the historical center) again and had some coffee at a cafe. But we were OD'd on Munich and ready
to go home. We ended up at the hotel early and my wife took another nap. I went out and took alot of photos
of cars in the parking lots around the hotel. That was where I shot the majority of the photos of cars during the
trip. It just goes to show how much
car watching
there is in Germany because in that short time walking around, I saw 3 Audi S8's, an Audi RS4, a Ferrari 550
Maranello, a Lancia Integralle, an E30 Touring, and an Opel Speedster, among others. This may be due in part to
the splendid accomodations we had at the
Munich Sheraton
that I would highly recommend. Click on the link below for a directory listing with all of the car pictures I
took. They're definitely worth checking out, there's some cool stuff in there.

On Sunday, we woke up bright and early to head to the airport. We were ready to get back to the good old US of A.
We decided to save money over a taxi and took the train to the airport. It wasn't that bad. But as a final parting
shot for our trip to Germany, I realized on the way to the airport that I had lost my $150 Oakley e-wire sunglasses.
That pissed me off royally.
Checking in our bags was painless though and we had time to go to Burger King for some food. It turns out they don't have breakfast at Burger Kings in Germany, at least not this one we went to in the airport. Oh well. We even had time to visit the duty free shop in the terminal. Definitely go there on your way back to the US if you want cheap booze. Its disgusting how much cheaper stuff is without the US taxes. We boarded our plane and settled into the comfortable business class seats for the 9 hour flight back to Chicago!
